DOES THE COST INCLUDE AIR?
No, airfare is additional cost. You must purchase your own flights and insurance (arriving and departing from Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci International Airport – FCO). It is still too early to know the group flight details because the flights have not yet been released — this information will be made known at a later date.
MAY I EXTEND MY STAY?
Yes, you may arrive early or stay later.
DO I HAVE TO KNOW THE PRIEST OR BE A PARISHIONER?
No, all are welcome. You may fly from anywhere and meet the group upon arrival at the specified time and location at the Rome airport.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN COSTS?
Tips and food are extra cost. You purchase your flights and insurance separately. A free-will offering will be taken up at some Masses for the local church.
DEPARTURE DAY: Monday, November 8, 2021 – Depart North America
Depart on overnight flights to Rome, Italy. Meals on flight.
DAY 1: Tuesday, November 9, 2021 – ARRIVAL DAY
Arrive in Rome, meet our Italian bus escort and depart by private motor coach for our accommodations in the heart of the city. Check-in to convent and rest. Overnight in Rome.
DAY 2: Wednesday, November 10, 2021 – Rome and Vatican
We begin our first day with a visit to the Vatican for the weekly general audience of the pope to pray with Catholics from around the world. Lunch near the Vatican. Afternoon Scavi tour to see the excavations under St. Peter’s Basilica and the tomb of St. Peter, the necropolis of a former pagan cemetery near where the saint was martyred. Afternoon Mass in our convent chapel. Fabulous welcome dinner served with Roman delicacies and local wines. (B, D)
DAY 3: Thursday, November 11, 2021 – Rome and Vatican
Today we enjoy the thrill of a private guided tour of the Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel, where you will view some of the most inspiring works of art, including Michelangelo’s magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement. The tour includes St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in Christendom. Lunch near the Vatican. Afternoon is open for souvenir shopping in the neighborhood of the Vatican. Optional walk at dusk to see Rome’s most famous fountain, the Trevi Fountain. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B)
DAY 4: Friday, November 12, 2021 – Rome
This morning we gather for a guided tour of Ancient Rome which includes the Roman Forum and Coliseum. Travel back in history and see where the early Christian martyrs perished. Lunch on our own in the neighborhood of the Coliseum. Afternoon is open for exploring on your own or shopping in the center of the city. Optional walk at dusk to see one of Rome’s most charming churches, the Basilica of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B)
DAY 5: Saturday, November 13, 2021 – Rome
Christian Rome bus tour with stops at the major religious sites of the city. We begin with Mass at St. Mary Major to marvel at the largest shrine in the city dedicated to Our Lady. See relics such as the wooden crèche from Bethlehem and the pillar where Christ was scourged, today kept at nearby Santa Prassede. Pray before the original icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Visit the Basilica of Santa Croce to see the relics of the Passion of Christ. Next we visit the mighty Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls to pray before his tomb. Lunch at the basilica. After we make our way to the off the beaten path shrine where St. Paul was martyred, known as Tre Fontane. Finally, we visit the Lateran Archbasilica, the former residence of the popes and today the cathedral of Rome. Overnight in Rome. (B)
DAY 6: Sunday, November 14, 2021 – Rome
Special visit to a Roman parish for the experience of Sunday morning Mass. Lunch. A leisurely walking tour through the streets of the historic center of Rome to see the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B)
DAY 7: Monday, November 15, 2021 – Rome, Nettuno, Anzio
Today we take a day trip to Nettuno to see the Sanctuary of St. Maria Goretti, built in her honor over her tomb in the seaside resort town of Nettuno on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Afternoon visit to the World War II Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial. Lunch. Mass at the home of St. Maria Goretti where the saint lived and was martyred. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B)
DAY 8: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 – Rome, Assisi
Today we take a day trip to the enchanted medieval city of Assisi located in the hills of Puglia, northeast of Rome. See this charming hamlet on the side of a mountain where the humble friar who could speak to animals – St. Francis of Assisi – lived and ministered to the poorest of the poor. Pray inside the chapel he rebuilt with his own hands and see the crucifix of San Damiano that came alive and spoke to him. Lunch. Visit to see the incorrupt remains of St. Clare, the first of the Poor Clare nuns. Private Mass in the Basilica of St. Francis for our group, near to the tomb of St. Francis. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B)
DAY 9: Wednesday, November 17, 2021 – Rome and Vatican
Our final full day together we celebrate with morning Mass at dawn in St. Peter’s Basilica. Next we make our way to the Catacombs of St. Priscilla which are among the finest and most important in Rome. They originate in the second century, part of a cemeterial complex with a network of galleries that includes what is believed to be the oldest image of Our Lady, a fresco from the 3rd century. Lunch. Afternoon visit to the Scala Santa, praying atop the holy stairs that Our Lord ascended at Pilate’s Praetorian Palace in Jerusalem, the prefect way to end our tour. Final farewell dinner and overnight in Rome. (B, D)
DEPARTURE DAY: Thursday, November 18, 2021 – Depart Italy
Transfer to Rome airport for return flights home. Meals on flights.

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION AND FINAL PAYMENT
Final payment is due August 1, 2021.
A simple convent breakfast and two festive dinners served with local wines are included, per the itinerary.
Adequate time will be given for shopping. On our last evening the chaplain will bless the religious objects purchased by the group.
Tips are additional cost: $150 Euro per person (for local guides and bus drivers). This amount will be collected in cash by the tour director on the first full day of the tour and distributed by him.
We require you purchase international travel insurance that includes medical – this can be done at the time of your registration and deposit.
